MOKOPANE: A Public Private Partnership between the Limpopo Department of Health and the Anglo Platinum Mine has finally borne fruits following the operationalization of the State of the Art Sekuruwe Clinic, in Mogalakwena Municipality. This comes after the recent visit by Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba to the clinic to officially operationalise it. Community members from nearby villages came in large numbers to witness this milestone event. The Anglo- Platinum Mine Group built the clinic back in 2015 and since its completion in 2017 Sekuruwe clinic has been operating on a skeleton basis as a result of insufficient personnel.
When addressing the attendees MEC Ramathuba said the clinic will be operating optimally moving forward. "We are committed in ensuring that this beautiful facility renders nothing but effective and efficient healthcare services to the community. Provision of basic healthcare service is a fundamental human right and as the Department we are saying no person living in this area should be denied such right while we have this State of Art infrastructure." MEC said.
According to the MEC's plan the clinic will render 24 hour healthcare services in near future. Ramathuba also applauded the community and leadership of Sekuruwe village for exercising their patience.
"I have had several meetings with your leadership about the non-operational of this clinic and as promised today we are here to operationalise the clinic and I would personally want extend my gratitude to Kgo?hi Langa and the entire community for believing in us as Department of Health," added the MEC. Meanwhile Ms Constance Mosena from Anglo Platinum mine also conveyed the message of gratitude to the Department and said "we will continue to contribute positively to the lives our people as part of our Community Initiative Programme."...
